Dancing at the Hall
The grand Saturday night opening of the hall was an auspicious event. Music was played by M. Myers. The dance schedule read: waltz, lancers, schlottische, waltz, quadrilles, M. two step, D. Alberts, maxina, hoyland, barn dance, veletta. The "D.Alberts" probably refers to "d'Albert" a Scottish dancer and composer and "hoyland" may refer to "hiyland" or "highland".
Dancing has been a popular activity at the Mt Bruce Hall since it opened and has continued over the years. Some of the current locals attended dance classes in preparation for the Centennial and have "learnt" or "refreshed" the following tradition dances; old-time waltz, fox trot, maxina, veletta, oslo waltz, gay gordons and military two-step. The videos below feature some versions that are similar to those that were taught in the class.

For my Christmas celebration party I searched for a number of banquet halls in Chicago but the rent of these halls is on hike these days because of occasions, at last I organized a dance party at the roof top of my house. I hope it will be nice.
